Being a dog on a ferry from Tallinn to Stockholm

The Tallink ferries between Tallinn and Stockholm are dog friendly. They also stop off at the Finnish island of Aland at 4am on the way to Sweden. Just remember that if you want to get off in Finnish territory, you need to have a vet administered worming treatment in the days leading up to it. No need when we were just staying on the boat.

Inside pet cabin

I booked a pet cabin, and booking a week or so before in early June, some of the sailings had the cheaper or quieter cabins sold out. The Wednesday evening sailing had all options available. I found out later that you can get an Interrail discount on this crossing, but I don’t know if that includes the cabin booking.

The cabin doors were so heavy, both Baspie dog and I were scared they would cut him in half on closing. They did cut out noise well though, which was handy since the ship was full of school trips of Estonians going to Sweden. How fab they get to do that! Estonians both by language and culture seem more connected to Scandinavia, looking North and West like their coastline.

Leaving the 800 year-old port in Tallinn in the evening sun. It’s still not very big.
Yummy vegan goodies from the supermarket by the port
Sunset late on the ferry, from the outside deck both sides of the ship that dogs are allowed on
Socialising with other dogs for the morning stroll before arrival in Stockholm

Passing through the archipelago into Stockholm

The ferry from Tallinn arrives in Stockholm at 10:30am Swedish time. There’s a 1 hour time difference between cities. The last couple of hours is through the Stockholm archipelago. One of my favourite places in the world.
