Croatia to Slovenia

From Zagreb we wanted a bit of countryside. Maribor was in the vague direction of Romania, which we have a deadline to get to. Also it is supposed to be nice and has a cute open campsite. A direct train, what could possibly go wrong?

We passed lovely countryside in a comfy compartment

Then the back of the train detached and we were heading to Ljubljana, not towards Vienna! A very nice place but in the wrong direction! We should have been in the back of the train. After some taxing moments working out what to do, it transpired that if we got off at the next stop, the back of the train would catch up and then turn off towards Maribor and beyond. Phew!

Read the tiny writing on the open carriage door to check your carriage destination, as it doesn’t say on the platform!

Bus electric charging point

At Maribor the bus station is close to the train station. It is full of useful services, from snacks to shoe mending. There are charging points for buses, which just have to be photographed, as do the concerning signs on the side of the bus.

Not a lot is allowed on the bus, no shopping trolleys, no cameras and no dogs!
But somehow Baspie dog was allowed on the bus without comment! I guess it depends on the driver and the dog

The number 6 bus stand 25 took us to Camping Family Kekec on the edge of town near the bubble lift. Easy as. A couple of days later, aiming for an early train, we didn’t risk it and booked a taxi, though it ended up being 15€ on the meter compared to 2€ on the bus.
