A quiet night on the ferry, with not much barking from other dogs in the pet cabin area. Arrival was easy. I was last off due to dog, which means you can lie in. You can’t go for breakfast if alone as you can’t leave a dog in the cabin. So bring your own food.
Lovely border guys (I realise that’s rather a contradiction in terms) were sympathetic when they told me I can’t stay 90 days as I’ve already been in EU 18 days in the last 180. So we have 72 days. However they quickly told me a fix: if we nip to non Schengen countries I can subtract those days. Switzerland counts as Schengen because they don’t have border police.

The local metro is right by the port at Hook of Holland. Not included in Interrail, 4.5€ for 2 hour ticket. You can use cash or card at the machine. I guess dogs don’t pay as there isn’t an option. We are heading a few stops to Schiedam Central for a train.
