Short train ride, big hike, above the Rhine between Filsen and Braubach
Saturday was dry. Yippee! So with the help of local trains and Komoot navigation app, we wiggled back along the hillside from Filsen. The week marked trail has occasional maps which point out where the good view points are, so we nipped up and down the hillside to get the best ones in. Well worth it.

The trail was steep and slippery in places after the rain, so both hiking poles came in use. Not just there for propping the tent canopy!
Part of the trail has several Mary shrines, and appeared to be a pilgrims routeStep wooded slopes with cowslips, violets, a white stellate flower, occasional blossom. The trees not being in leaf yet meant we were aware of the river far below most of the timeOne of the best picnic spots ever, on a huge swing chair above the Rhine. Us. We returned via Braubach station after about 8 hours of wandering.
Interrailing seems a great opportunity for using local trains in an ad hoc hop on hop off way.
